OUR GOAL
At Leo’s Clubhouse, we are committed to our feline friends and owners to minimize the stress that a new environment can create. We provide an environment aiming to enhance your cat's natural behaviors while promoting their overall well-being throughout their stay.
How do we do it? We follow the AAFP Guidelines, which consist of Five Pillars that best describe the type of environment a cat thrives in. Follow us on this journey as we introduce these important facts that will help your cat adapt and alleviate your concerns about them.
THE FIVE PILLARS OF A HEALTHY FELINE ENVIRONMENT
-
Pillar 1: Provide a safe place
We prioritize a secure and stress-free environment for our feline guests. We achieve this by incorporating perches and shelves within their enclosures to offer privacy and seclusion. Furthermore, as a cat-only facility, we eliminate the presence of other animals, reducing fear and anxiety for our guests.
-
Pillar 2: Provide multiple and separated key environmental resources
Leo's Clubhouse boarding facility meticulously caters to all essential cat needs, including food, water, rest, perches, scratching posts, litter boxes, and play areas. Our spacious suites provide ample room, exceeding the recommended 20 square feet with approximately 26 to 30 square feet in floor space and boasting a generous height of 7 feet 6 inches. This setup not only fulfills basic requirements but also encourages cats to engage in natural behaviors during their stay.
-
Pillar 3: Provide opportunity for play and predatory behavior
We prioritize in engaging our feline guests in pseudopredatory play and feeding behaviors, recognizing their importance in fulfilling cats' natural instincts. We achieve this by providing opportunities for play-based interaction with our dedicated staff members and offering interactive puzzles for mental stimulation. This approach is designed to trigger positive emotional states in cats, encouraging them to participate in essential object play and predatory behavior during their stay.
-
Pillar 4: Provide positive, consistent and predictable human–cat social interaction
At Leo's Clubhouse, we prioritize positive and predictable human-cat social interaction to enhance the well-being of our feline guests. By providing regular, friendly contact with humans at a level that respects each cat's preferences, we aim to reduce fear and stress during their stay.
-
Pillar 5: Provide an environment that respects the cat’s sense of smell, sight and hearing
We prioritize a cat-friendly environment by respecting feline senses, including smell, sight, and hearing. We refrain from using products that may disrupt sensory perception, utilize synthetic pheromones to reduce anxiety and promote positive behaviors, and provide scratching areas for cats to deposit scent through glands in their feet pads. This approach ensures a conducive and emotionally healthy environment for our feline guests.
Requirements
Age
We welcome cats aged 16 weeks and older for boarding.
Vaccination
Guests are required to have completed the full course of FVRCP vaccination shots, with the most recent vaccination covering their entire stay, or have a valid titer antibody blood test result indicating sufficient FVRCP vaccine antibodies.
If your cat is unable to receive vaccinations, we will accept a veterinarian's note explaining the reason for exemption from the vaccination schedule. This note must also certify your cat's suitability for boarding throughout their stay with us.
Sterilization
Neutering is required for all male cats to prevent potential spraying, which could affect cleanliness. Female cats, however, are not required to be spayed.
Parasite prevention
Please administer topical flea treatment before your cat's arrival, and we may require proof. If fleas are found during check-in, we'll take measures to address them.
Health status
Upon check-in, your cat should be in good health and free from illness or injury. If your cat has recovered from an illness or injury within the last 30 days, please provide a written note from your veterinarian confirming their fitness for boarding at Leo's Clubhouse.
Health and behavioral assessment
Upon check-in, our caretakers will perform a physical examination to confirm that your cat meets the specified criteria.
We retain the right to decline:
Owners who do not provide valid documentation verifying their cat's eligibility for boarding.
Cats that do not meet the criteria for boarding at Leo's Clubhouse.
Cats exhibiting excessive aggression during check-in, making it unsafe for handling by their owners or caretakers.
